I really love the bright colors in this space and how fun it looks. I know that some people have a designated area for working and others do not. I embrace all forms of learning spaces. If my kids wanna flop on the couch and read or do math on the stairs - so be it. We also have desks set up for times when they want a little more structure but seeing where others learn is always fun.

Baking+Socialization

Don't you just hate it when people still question about whether or not your child is getting enough socialization???!!! That is the one thing that still drives me nuts especially when I see little kids texting and playing video games (not that I am totally against technology... but ya know what I am saying.) We had a little friend over the other day for "socialization" and baking. There friend "C" is younger, so the boys had fun playing "big brother" and helping him throughout the day. C of course had a blast hanging out with the bigger boys as well. That is what "socialization" is all about - being companions with a wide assortment of people. I think they fit in the "real world" just fine :)

about us

Thanks for visiting our blog. We are an urban/modern/unschooling family. Unlike a lot of homeschooling parents out there, we don't live on a large piece of property, we don't have chickens or other little animals living with us, I don't know how to knit or sew (I have tried and have failed miserably) we don't have a large garden to grow our own produce.

What we do have is a lot of creativity. I have plans to turn our small plot of yard into something amazing (hopefully), while we don't have the farm animals we do have a small dog (maui) and a beautiful raised koi pond that my husband built so my kids could be a little in touch with nature, I like to support other artisans on etsy with their hand knit/sewn items, and we support our farmers market with fresh produce. We have to be very creative in our homeschooling and sometimes that means traveling a long way to visit an interesting place, or just going to the local park so the kids can play. But that is what homeschooling/unschooling is all about right? Working with what you have and making the most of it. I hope to meet many other families out there who will inspire us in our day to day living and learning.

We have been feeling the effects of hurricane ida with cold winds and non-stop rain for two days straight. The boys took to their room and would not let us up until they had completed this creation. All of that paper and staples and a million little pushpins to hold it up. But what could we say... they were quite cooperative in their endeavor.
